10.Tat Mok Waterfall
Tat Mok Waterfall is located within the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, in the Mae Raem Subdistrict of Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai. This medium-sized waterfall stands at a height of 26 meters, cascading down a series of rocky cliffs. As the water flows, it creates a fine mist that spreads out, resembling a gentle fog. This unique phenomenon is actually the origin of the waterfall's name, "Tat Mok," which means "foggy waterfall." The surrounding area is lush and peaceful, with a wide variety of plant species thriving in the area, making it a serene escape into nature.
At the base of TaT Mok Waterfall, you’ll encounter a fascinating tree— the Ngun (or Ngun) tree, which has stood for over 100 years. This remarkable tree is often found at ancient sites, such as the famous Ta Prohm Temple in Cambodia. What makes the Ngun tree truly special is that it’s dioecious, meaning it has both male and female parts. The female trees produce seeds that can be used for growing new plants. Its soft, pliable wood is traditionally used to make canoe boats. With its historical significance and unique characteristics, the Ngun tree adds even more charm to the already stunning surroundings of the waterfall.
